Steve Embry

“Painting the beauty God created.”

Mr. Embry is one of Yuma’s most outstanding artists. He has lived in the Yuma area most of his life and has been capturing, on canvas, the beauty of the desert and local historical and scenic sites-of-interest for the past 25 years plus.

Known as the only painter where Yuma is the subject of his art, and the only person to paint Yuma with skill.

Steve is a hard working, self taught, student of American master landscape painters, past and present. His forte is plein air realism. His solid draftsmanship, keen eye, and sympathetic feel for the southwest’s scenic beauty has produced a number of fine landscape paintings.

Steven Wayne Embry was born on October 21, 1945 in Columbus, Ohio and moved to Yuma with his parents at the age of 3. He attended local schools, however, concerning his artistic abilities, is almost entirely self taught. He is also a very talented pianist, with a wide knowledge of musical styles — from classical to country and gospel to bebop, to name a few. Often utilizing his talents at the piano/keyboard playing for Lutes Casino Restaurant, Yuma Golf and Country Club, events and churches, etc. He has recorded several CD’s, some of which are available for sale.

You may view his work at the Yuma Fine Arts Association in Yuma, Arizona.

His painting entitled “Cargo Muchacho”, a view from Indian Hill, received “first place” and “best in show” in a juried show sponsored by Old Town Gallery, which was entered by over 50 local artist.
